If you know anything about internet ARGs, then the name Alan Resnick is probably familiar to you. A comedian and performance artist, his ARGs (most of which he’s developed with his comedy troupe Wham City Comedy and their video production company ‘AB Video Solutions’) are notorious for their intricacy and borderline eeriness, while still being whimsical and darkly comedic enough to enjoy. I thought I’d take the chance today to introduce my readers to his videos.

ALANTUTORIAL

In this series, Alan plays a man with an implied mental disability who wants to become a successful Youtube tutorial channel. What starts off as simple, yet odd, tutorials that almost borderline into parody turn into a surreal horror-comedy.

WORTH WATCHING FOR: Alan himself, you grow to love him and genuinely care for his well being.

LIVE FOREVER AS YOU ARE NOW

A one off comedy skit done for Adult Swim, where Alan (no relation to Alantutorial…unless?) a ‘hot young tech wizard’ has managed to create a programme that creates a virtual copy of your mind and thus allowing you to achieve immortality.

WORTH WATCHING FOR: Resnick’s surrealist humour is strongest in this skit.

Another video done for Adult Swim, this starts off with quite literally unedited footage of a bear and then seemingly becomes a commercial for medicine becomes something much more sinister. Described as a, “sucker punch to the senses“, I’d say just watch it and see for yourself.

WORTH WATCHING FOR: The bear. And heavy metal music.
